what happens when you put two honorsexuals on a mission together? (closed)
WHO: Yukimura and Saitou
WHAT: Recon mission
WHERE: Hulao Gate
WARNING(S): Saitou and Yukimura in the same post equals high chances of blushing schoolgirl-type behaviour.
[A few months after saving everyone who had been stationed at Ueda Castle, everything seemed to have settled into something of a routine. There were still plenty of people that needed to be saved from various other points in the timeline, but there wasn’t the same sense of crushing hopelessness that there had been. It was almost… nice, in a way. Sure, they still had a lot of work to do, but they also had a purpose along with it.
Speaking of which, it was why Yukimura and Saitou had been sent to Hulao Gate to see what the situation was there. The cold weather wasn’t something that Yukimura was particularly used to, but he didn’t dare to complain. After all, he’d been fortunate enough to be sent on a mission with someone that he worked well together with – he couldn’t ask for anything more than that.
Still, it wasn’t a location that Yukimura recognised, so he couldn’t help but be curious about a few things. So while they were trying to find a place to set up camp, Yukimura decided to ask a few questions.]
Hajime-dono – have you been here before? I do not recognise the location, myself.

[Oops, there he goes, admitting it. Though at the comment about the fire he finds himself frowning.]
It may be a risk we'll simply have to take. There is always the chance that someone will find us if we do, however...
[The alternative looked like it was "freeze to death". Not very appealing.]
no subject
[Which he feels like kind of a jerk for pointing out so bluntly, but there's nobody there but the two of them. If something goes wrong and they're overwhelmed, there's nobody for Kaguya to trace back and give them a second chance at getting it right.]
no subject
Yukimura feels terrible for not thinking about that, and he lets his hands drop back to his sides, averting his gaze so that Saitou doesn't have to see the look on his face.]
Then we will figure out another way.
no subject
...I apologize for stating it so bluntly, Yukimura-dono.
no subject
[Because he sure didn't.]
no subject
I suppose we need not think about it outside, at any rate.
[Not that inside the tent is going to be significantly warmer, but every little bit does count...]
no subject
[It'll be warmer, even if it's not by much. And they can figure something out between them, he's sure.]
no subject
You had best be right behind me, then.
[But he complies! And takes a seat to one side and pulls his hands inside of his kimono sleeves to keep them...well, a little warmer.]
no subject
... or really, he just doesn't know how to do this "feelings" thing. Which explanation is better?]
You needn't worry, Hajime-dono.
[Yukimura follows after him and closes the tent flap. Once he sees that Saitou's still cold, he procures one of his own blankets from his pack, and drapes it over Saitou's shoulders.]
no subject
[Because it's the two of them! They'll figure something out. They'll make it work. HE HAS FAITH.]
no subject
At the very least, we will not have to deal with these conditions for too long.
[They can do everything but deal with feelings. They're pros at this.]
no subject
If they aren't, well, they'll have to go a bit further to find out, but honestly, Saitou figures the likelihood that someone hasn't taken the gate by now to be rather low.]
I have no doubt that we will succeed.
no subject
[More than that, however- there's something else that Yukimura is slightly more concerned about right now.]
Are you feeling any better?
no subject
I am well enough. You needn't worry so much.
no subject
... Except no, not really, but Yukimura is just-- Yukimura. The look on Saitou's face says it all, and he averts his gaze again, embarrassed.]
Forgive me.
no subject
...I could never fail to forgive you.
no subject
I know that you can look after yourself, but for some reason... I cannot help myself around you.
no subject
I hope I am not weighing you down, Yukimura-dono.
[Because he knows he's pulling his own weight perfectly well, but...making someone worry is a kind of weight in itself, isn't it? Burdening him with unnecessary...feelings.]
no subject
[He pauses for a moment, hesitant.]
I suppose I am not entirely sure how to explain it well enough, in all honesty.
no subject
Well, it's not as if he can fault anyone else for failing to articulate their feelings. He's not sure he could explain this very well, himself, either...
And he's not sure what else there is to say to that, and somehow that just sends him to asking the stupidest question possible.]
Aren't you also cold?
no subject
[Ah. Wait, he's not supposed to admit that out loud. Backtrack, backtrack!]
B-but I will be fine, you needn't worry. It simply takes some getting used to.
[... they're both as bad as each other.]
no subject
[How dare you worry over him without taking care of yourself...!
He pulls one side of the blanket off of his own shoulder and holds it out, scooting over to put himself a little closer to Yukimura.]
no subject
-- his blush is going to be painfully obvious from this proximity, but he's just going to try not to think about it. Instead, he lets himself get caught up in the thought that... well. This is actually kind of... nice. As long as he doesn't let himself get carried away again.
There's no harm in enjoying the moment for a while, is there?]
T-thank you.
no subject
I have done nothing worthy of thanks.
no subject
Thank you for staying by my side all this time.
