WHERE: All around the main camp.
WARNING(S): Shitty haiku, if he ever finds it.

[Today in your main camp, there is a samurai.

On a mission.

No matter where you've chosen to hang out today, you've probably seen him at some point. Rummaging around in whatever boxes or stacks of supplies are out, checking the ground, talking to people just out of your earshot...it seems like he's looking for something.

And judging by the way he occasionally mutters something grumpy and possibly profane under his breath, he doesn't seem to be finding it.

Do you need some help?

[ Souji's been watching him for a while and finally decided to approach the other man.]

[He sizes the other man up and considers for a moment. Because sure, another pair of eyes is helpful, but only if it's someone who isn't going to pick it up and read it -

Have you seen a book, about so big, says "Hogyoku" on the cover?

[ The man sticks out like sore thumb when he moves with such lack grace. Silent panic in his tracks, clearly missing something important. But he only catches the tail end of his search, it seems - unable to realize exactly what he's searching for. In his mind, however, there is only one thing within Hjikata - no, the Shinsengumi's possession that is worth the stress. ]

[ Because Chizuru's the important possession he's looking for, right? ]

[One: why the hell would this kid recognize it...and yet not its owner? Two: what's with that almost accusatory tone? Three: It's a very short list of people who can address Hijikata as "Toshi" and get away with it, even if it's not exactly direct, in this case.

There are a lot of things wrong with this, and they're not adding up right.]

[There is no way Souji wouldn't know that person. He is seen him enough to recognize him probably anywhere, no matter where it was. Even if his looks hadn't given Hijikata away, the way he was cursing

He stops right where he is for a moment, not turning around. It'd be easy enough to just write this off as a dream - hell knows he's seen the dead enough times that way. Except...

...except they're in the middle of crazy time vortex land surrounded by legends of the past and demons that are a lot uglier than the ones back home. Right. Is talking to the dead really that much stranger of an idea?

There aren't many people stupid enough to try and impersonate any of the Shinsengumi, let alone the people at the top. Let alone stupid enough to try and do it straight to the face of another of the leaders.

And given that they're already in some crazy mishmash of reality where great names from the Sengoku era and the Three Kingdoms of China are walking around - but even then, they're different people, aren't they? Two versions of the same seems like a stretch even by these standards.

He's still watching the other man, although the fact he actually knows that Toshi-san writes haiku is definitely something very few people would be aware of.]
