What's the point of ruling the land... (CLOSED)
WHO: Sun Ce and Daqiao
WHAT: Quick. Your dead husband is alive. How do you react?
WHERE: Chibi
WARNING(S): Sap, fluff, angst, emoooooooootions.
[Sun Ce can't explain what drew him to the largely deserted battlefield, one where empty ships float on the water, chained together by planks and drawbridges. He recognized it as Chibi, part of his family's territory, but its significance was lost on him. The fact that the land is largely deserted is very disconcerting to him, so he almost felt relieved when he would encounter the occasional hostile patrol of demonic soldiers.
So when he hears the signs of battle at a nearby structure resembling some kind of altar, he doesn't hesitate to rush in. Only when he gets closer, however, does he see that the lone figure fighting against the soldiers is his own wife, and suddenly, his confusion is replaced with protective fury.]
Nobody lays a finger on my Daqiao!
[No sooner does the enemy turn toward him that he's upon them, striking them down in a flurry of strikes. As the last of the opposition falls, he stands up straight, his gaze fixated on his beloved wife as he approaches her. He doesn't know how they got here or why, but that's not nearly as important to him as making sure she's safe.]
Daqiao... are you alright?

Daqiao... are you alright?

The good news for Daqiao, though, is that he's not going anywhere. With the world in this chaotic state it's in, he's going to be sure to watch over her. Whatever she's been through, it's been terrible, and she was obviously separated from him for some time. Was he really...
No, that's not important now. They're both alive, they're both real. He holds her tighter, muscular arms wrapped snugly around her to keep her as close as possible.]
I'm not leaving you again, Daqiao. I won't leave you alone... that's a promise.
[He fights back tears of his own, the prospect of leaving her behind a bereaved young widow upsetting to him. He can't bear the thought of her crying, lonely and full of grief. And more than that, he can't bear the thought of being the cause of that grief.
If he really did die, then he's going to make sure that he doesn't, now.]

[Just before she could finish her sentence, Daqiao had a bad feeling, that something was approaching... and she was right. She could see a few more enemy generics coming behind Sun Ce. It seems their little sap moment would have to wait. How depressing; Daqiao withdraws herself from the embrace and takes Sun Ce's hands.]
My lord, we must retreat! I-I have a camp site set up with my guards, not too far from here. If we hurry, surely, we can lose the enemy...
no subject
Alright. Lead the way, Daqiao. I'll make sure nobody gets anywhere near you.
[There's a steely, intense determination in his voice. He's not going to let her get hurt again, whether it's physically or emotionally. And that means he has to live, for her sake.]

She guided Sun Ce to her tent and entered.
Lucky for him it was big enough for two people.]Um... it isn't much, but it's all we could do for now... We don't plan on staying here very long. If there's anything you need, Lord Sun Ce, please don't hesitate to ask! It... it almost feels like a dream... you're really here, my lord... I've missed you so much.

Knowing that he had caused his beloved wife heartache ate away at him, gnawing at his conscience as if it were a ravenous beast.
At least in the tent, they were alone. The guards were distant enough to give them desperately needed privacy, not to mention a chance to catch their breath. He placed his hands over hers, bringing them to his cheek so that he could feel her soft hands against his skin.]
The only thing I need is you, Daqiao. As long as we're together, I don't care who stands in our way... there's no way I'll let anyone hurt you.
[His hands gradually lower themselves to her waist, his gaze fixated on her gorgeous, vibrant eyes. He starts to close the distance between their lips, yearning to hold her, kiss her, to experience everything with her that she's missed about him.
To reassure her that he is very much here with her, and he isn't going anywhere.]
